Tala Asmar a visual artist with a Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Visual Arts from Birzeit University, in 2022. I live in Ramallah and trace my roots to the village of Al-Haditha in the district of lod. I currently work part-time as a teaching assistant at Birzeit University, where I assist in teaching various courses.

In my artistic practice, I focus on exploring and experimenting with diverse materials through Monoprinting techniques, particularly transparent materials such as table cover. My work aims to conceptually connect the materials I use with the term “printer.” I explore the process of creating images that resemble the original while using distinct techniques and materials. The original element remains intact but transitions through various materials and contexts (cities), transforming its surroundings (the material) without altering its core essence.

Through this approach, I engage with themes of loss within the Palestinian context, reflecting on the compounded challenges imposed by dominant systems. My work addresses loss in its various forms, including the loss of place (land), the loss of family (home), and the loss of the mother (homeland).
