Tala Asmar a visual artist with a Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Visual Arts from Birzeit University, in 2022. I live in Ramallah and trace my roots to the village of Al-Haditha in the district of lod. I currently work part-time as a teaching assistant at Birzeit University, where I assist in teaching various courses.

My work focuses on experimenting with transparent materials such as nylon and baking paper, using monoprinting and collage techniques. Through these materials, I explore the relationship between presence and absence, and between the original and its repetition. I approach printmaking as a tool to evoke absence and to fix a fleeting moment. My work reflects on the impact of loss—whether personal, political, or spatial—and intersects with the Palestinian experience under siege and borders. I’m interested in tracing the changes in facial features through light and shadow, producing visual layers that transform the surroundings while the original remains still.
